God’s promise, one that the Almighty gave to Abraham and to his descendants forever is a promise in which God has become its surety because He purposed it, promised it and shall fulfill it. Abraham, as Abram from the land of Ur of the Chaldees, was the one chosen by God to become a father in whom He would use as a natural tribe or nation to be His people. This nation God used, not as a finished product, but rather as a beginning for the revealing of Himself to fallen creation. In this, Abram, called by God to separate from one land or life style unto a certain land wherein God would put him and his entire household. In this land, in becoming a nation of people they became a natural shadow and type of a far greater kingdom that was to come forth. This greater kingdom of God’s purpose, in its arrival, is to become the revealing and manifestation of all that God purpose beforehand. Gen. 12:1-3 & 5c & 7, “Now the Lord had said unto Abram, get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will show thee: And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: And in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed. …and they went forth to go into the land of Canaan; and into the land of Canaan, they came. …And the Lord appeared unto Abram, and said, unto thy seed will I give this land [for a different life style]; and there builded he an altar unto the Lord, who appeared unto him”.
In this above stated promise that God had spoken to Abram, we should take note that God also made provision to enable them to fulfill such a promise. Again, note that the natural kingdom, which the children of Israel became, was but the beginning of the fulfillment of said promises. Even as scripture declares, “first the natural, and then the spiritual”, this declaration gives an understanding that whatsoever God begins in His natural people it would also have a greater fulfillment in the spiritual realms. Therefore, this land called Canaan, a natural land now known as Israel, is but the natural land that points to a far greater land, a greater fulfillment. Abram, receiving a natural kingdom ruled over by natural laws is but a beginning to reveal that the natural order of the flesh man could never obey the laws of God’s nature. Why, could it be because the natural fleshly man is a man with a “fallen nature”, the results of the first Adams fall in the Garden of Eden? This speaks to us that humanity has fallen from his God ordained place to live far beneath that for which God ordained for him. This indicates that man must move from the natural order of kingdoms into that which is of the spiritual order of kingdoms. Note that man had his beginning in the spirit realm, before the fall, and shall be restored back into that place in God. This is the land of God’s original purpose, which is a purpose that has never changed.
With the children of Israel being of the natural realm, they could not obey God’s laws and became a nation manifesting a rebellious nature. This rebellious nature caused them to go into captivity and to be scattered to the four winds. In this, the true seed of Abraham had not yet come to the forefront. Who is this true seed but those that are of the Christ? Gal. 3:29 states clearly, “And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise”. In this, the natural seed, while unable to follow God’s governmental nature, they give way to the spiritual seed, a seed which all of humanity (Jew and Gentile) can partake of as they receive Christ to become the seed of Abraham.
Remember that the house of Israel, the natural seed of Abraham were a people of the law. Scripture reveals for us that the law makes nothing perfect, but it always produced death. This death is the fruit of the natural flesh man fallen nature that produces a man subject to the carnal mind, one that is always at enmity against God. Rom. 8:6-8, “For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God, for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God”. Therefore, our understanding has become knowledgeable to this truth. Just as the children of Israel became a people of bondage and rebellion, likewise the church, the Christian community of today. These groups have and are reverting to that law of death, the carnal mind that submits to and obeys the desires of the flesh. Herein they become prisoners as they stand in a state of rebellion. Did not Christ come to fulfill the law and institute a new covenant, speaking of a nature that fulfills the man in becoming one with Christ likeness?
Hear and know church, the rebellion that scattered the children of Israel into all its forms of bondage is it not likewise affecting the church today? Rebellion is causing a people to be a people who have a form of godliness but they are denying Gods changing power. That is, these humanistic, flesh feeding psychological sermons that are preached over many of the pulpits today, they are denying and stealing from the people the power of a God who alone can bring lasting victory through change. In this, the church, like the children of Israel has a charge against them. This church has also forsaken the life of God made available through the cross (Passover) and the Holy Spirit (feast of Pentecost). That is to say, they have rejected the Holy Spirits power and have mingled their mindsets with the carnality of the fallen world. Psalms 106:34-39 states, “They did not destroy the nations, concerning whom the Lord commanded them: but they mingled among the heathen, and learned their works. And they served their idols: which were a snare unto them. Yea, they sacrificed their sons and their daughters unto devils, and shed innocent blood, even the blood of their sons and of their daughters, whom they sacrificed unto the idols of Canaan: and the land was polluted with blood. Thus were they defiled with their own works, and went a whoring with their own inventions”. Strong words, but words given to awaken and bring to today’s church a reminder even as God forewarned the Israelites concerning the nations that inhabited the land of God’s promise. Scriptures that speak to a natural nation but now words that also applies to the spiritual house of Abraham, the Christian community.
Likewise, among today’s church, God declares an expressed warning concerning the land that God speaks His promises too. This land, foremost and above all else is the land of man’s whole being, his spirit, his soul and his body, the land man must conquer first. In taking our land, God declares that in obedience we can possess the whole of the land, a restoration in our spirit, our soul and our body. Deut. 7:1-5 states, “When the Lord thy God shall bring thee into the land whether thou goest to possess it, and hath cast out many nations before thee, the Hittites, and the Girgashites, and the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, seven nations greater and mightier than thou; and when the Lord thy God shall deliver them before thee; thou shalt smite them and utterly destroy them; thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor show mercy unto them: neither shalt thou make marriages with them, thy daughter thou shalt not give unto his son, nor his daughter shalt thou take unto thy son. For they will turn away thy son from following me that they may serve other gods: so will the anger of the Lord be kindled against you, and destroy thee suddenly. But thus shall ye deal with them; ye shall destroy their altars, and break down their images, and cut down their groves, and burn their graven images with fire”.
In this, the testimony of the stand they made shows this truth, in rebellion against His forewarning they brought devastation from God among them. Judges 3:5-7, “And the children of Israel dwelt among the Canaanites, Hittites, and Amorites, and Perizzites, and Hivites, and Jebusites: and they took their daughters to be their wives, and gave their daughters to their sons, and served their gods. And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the Lord, and forgot the Lord their God, and served Baalim and the groves”. To these natural children of Israel, Abraham’s natural seed, a mandate stands against them in their disobedience to God’s forewarned promise. Rebelling against God, to serve these other gods in that they married and mingled among the offspring of the heathen nations. In this type of disobedience to God, today’s church likewise stands in disobedience as they are marrying the mind-sets of fallen carnal men, professional ministers who promote evil and idolatry against God, seeking the worlds ways and methods to success. Their main purpose is to increase their numbers, finances and popularity.
What about this stand taken by most of the Christian community today, called to be the spiritual seed of Abraham? With the same forewarning applying to his spiritual seed, what has been their stand? With the world controlled by men of a fallen nature, the church is to be separate from that nature; they have likewise married the mind-sets of these fallen men. They, in these marriages, have forsaken their union with God of the spiritual heavenly realms to pursue the mind-sets of carnal minded men. That is to say, if it brings what appears to have successful results among the world’s empires, let us bring it into the church, the called to be spiritual house of God. At the expense of forsaking the leading of the Holy Spirit in all things, these ministers of rebellion, institute before the people marriages of deceitful doctrines of humanism and psychological self-helps. That is they are replacing God with the idols of this world knowledge and its carnal mind-set.
Isa. 2:1-9 speaks of God’s stated purpose and those who rebel against Him, a rebellion that applies to the church of today. “And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the Lords house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow into it. And many people shall go and say, come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; and He will teach us of His ways, and we will walk in His paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem. And He shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swards into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation; neither shall they learn war any more. O house of Jacob, come ye, and let us walk in the light of the Lord. Therefore Thou hast forsaken Thy People the house of Jacob [Jacob speaks of the natural fleshly house while Israel, Jacobs new name–nature change, speaks of the spiritual house] because they be replenished from the east, and soothsayers like the Philistines, and they please themselves in the children of strangers [other religious languages, philosophies and doctrines of humanism]. Their land is full of silver and gold, neither is there any end of their treasures; their land is also full of horses, neither is there any end of their chariots: Their land also is full of idols; they worship the work of their own hands, that which their own fingers have made [natural, fleshly carnal works]”.
In this, the above scripture, we see the fruits of the natural minded man who rejects any spiritual inspiration as it comes by the Holy Spirit that God has sent to led them. Herein man, in marrying the inhabitants of the land, they have rejected God for their own carnal doctrines and traditions, marring the offspring of strangers (mind-sets), over that which God would lead them. That is, through the Holy Spirits leading they could be exalted above the kingdoms of this world. They could have become a kingdom wherein the nations of the world, those around them, would come to them and learn God’s ways because they could see the ways of God manifesting through those who resurrect into Christ nature. However, the church, the spiritual house of God has, like the children of Israel, chosen to pursue their own ways and the ways of the world about them. They have incorporated the ways of the world into their gatherings, in hope of becoming successful in their own works. 1 Cor. 5:6-8 reveal what a little leaven will do, “Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump? Purge out therefore the old leaven that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us: therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth”.
What about you, are you willing to approach God standing only on the works of Jesus our Passover? That is, to come before Him in sincerity and truth? In this, we must be willing to cross over our Jordan River to enter the promises of God. That is to say, are we willing to face the giants that dwell in our land? To face the character flaws incorporated into our lives, that which makes up the carnal nature, we now have the word of the Lord that we can trust. Deut. 9:1-3, “Hear, O Israel: thou art to pass over Jordan this day, to go in to possess nations greater and mightier than thyself, cities great and fenced up to heaven, a people great and tall, the children of the Anakims, whom thou knowest, and of whom thou hast heard say, who can stand before the children of Anak! Understand therefore this day, that the Lord thy God is he which goeth over before thee; as a consuming fire He shall destroy them, and He shall bring them down before thy face: so shall thou drive them out, and destroy them quickly, as the Lord hath said unto thee”. You and I of today face these same giants, the sons of Anak, the seven nations that occupy our land, our bodies, our mental make-up, our mind-sets and our characters. Therefore, let us know our enemies and put them to flight; let us slay them in the fulfillment of the work of Jesus Christ who has gone before us. Note a brief description of these our enemies:
- The Hittites – are the inhabitants that respond to the natural mind, in resisting God through the form of terror. This causes a people to prostrate themselves before this character flaw by fear and violence. This causes a people to break down in a state of confusion, fear and rebellion, to maintain ones own carnal mind-set of depression and obsession.
- The Girgashites – are the enemy existing from generations that have gone before us. That is those are past down character flaws placing their offspring under a curse of sin. These unknown curses powerfully entice the carnal mind to respond through ingrained weaknesses that entice the person to participate and become like those in bondages of former generations.
- The Amorites – these are those who challenge the things of God in many forms of rebellion. These speak out against the moving of God’s Spirit among the people with demanding forms and challenging words. These blaspheme God in language of jesting, boasting, bragging and are most critical in all things concerning the Holy Spirits manifestations.
- The Canaanites – are those of a character that desires to subdue and make low the things of God. They tend to respond to the peddling and merchandising of the things of God, making them of low estate. These merchants, like Jesus that day in the temple, they shall be driven out.
- The Perizzites – this is that character flaw which promotes a life-style that does all to satisfy the desire of the self-life. In this, they separate from any type of sanctification that they might fulfill all their fleshly desires without any boundaries or restraints, doing anything they want just to satisfy the flesh.
- The Hivites – are those with that character flaw which, very much like Eve, is willing to compromise with the realm of death while rejecting the things of life. That is to reject the word of God for her own perverted knowledge of God’s ways.
- The Jebusites – are a people who are willing to trample upon the high places of God in unrighteousness. That is, they respond to those high ideals of the carnal mind over God’s word and nature. They refuse to yield to any spiritual direction to continue following carnality, as they pollute and defile the house of God, His dwelling place, in which we are.
Here, a small description of the inhabitants of our promised land, our bodies, called to be God’s dwelling place. In this, God, through the birth of Jesus, His earth walk, His death, His burial and His resurrection is declaring to us to rise up and take the land. This land is His inheritance in us and is our inheritance in Him. Our spirit, soul and body is our Canaan land, our land of promise wherein He has gone before us, that in Him, all enemies shall be destroyed. Here we see some if not all seven-character flaws that occupied the land of our inheritance; they are the inhabitants and spiritual forces of the natural carnal man. By killing these inhabitants from our land, our bodies, a restoration is available to become the manifested nature of God, the seven-fold spirit that flows from the Holy Spirit of God. (Read Psalms 149:1-9).
