God has given to His people the understanding that there is but one true church which lives and dwells upon the earth. However, another truth the people must consider is, apostasy is also alive, while working and on the increase among today’s so-called Christian community. Apostasy is a word that means, “To abandon what one believed in, as a faith, a cause or a principle”. With God’s word being the full measure of God’s purpose, the evidential signs around us reveal that the institution which the world calls “the church” has become, for the most part, a people who have abandoned some if not all the godly principles inspired by God for us to live by. These principles are those written and preserved for humanity in the Book called the Old and New Testaments, the Bible. In their apostate position, men have become and are followers of the dictates of highly carnal-minded ideas that they think are best for man and all creation. In this, they often contradict and attack God’s word, even to the destroying of all that God’s word represents. In this position, understand that a little leaven leavens the whole lump. Therefore, by the receiving of carnal ideas into any church order, the door is open for that people to enter into a time of rituals promoting spiritual destruction, even as God has spoken.
Because rebellion and apostasy do exist among the Christian community, they are constantly rejecting God’s warnings. Thus a time, an end is upon creation and judgment is come and is on the increase. As the leaven of carnality increases, it shall come to its place of destruction. God’s kingdom is even now at the door and with His approval, man can now enter into and establish God’s kingdom here on the earth. Jeremiah 1:10 states, when speaking to Jeremiah and today’s Jeremiah generation, there is now a generation existing upon the earth that desires this spiritual change. “See, I have this day set [installed] you over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out and to pull down, to destroy and to pull down, to build and to plant”. To build and plant speaks of a time of restoration, which is the results of the necessary time of destruction, the tearing down. This action speaks loud and clear to the Christian community of a need to stand up and take notice. The cup of apostasy has now reached its fullness and judgment time is upon us. Rom. 13:11-14, “And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. The night is far spent the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. Let us walk properly, as in the day; not in revelry and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust, not in strife and envy. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts”.
Note that the word “light”, used in the above scripture with “armor of light”, is the Greek word “PHOS” which means “light (underived and absolute); the opposite of darkness”. This word, while used specially of God, speaks to us of a change that happens from within us, which God completes, to no longer project the fallen nature of Adam and this darken world. In this change man is to manifest the life and light of God, that is to say, a new covering, a new body. These light bearers are the Jeremiah generation, which God is now sending forth to challenge and bring destruction to all the modern, so-called up-graded philosophies of carnal men. That is, God’s truth bringing down the carnal doctrines and false-hoods that have deceived the Christian community. In this, apostasy is now being uncovered and revealed as to the lies it represents. How, because truth, by the enlightenment of Holy Spirit as sent forth from God makes men free. In this Jeremiah reveals, as a sounding trumpet, the impending destruction that comes from the north, that is to say the carnal mind of man. This sounding trumpet is blowing today as truth uncovers to reveal all forms of rebellion and apostasy. Truth has its purpose, which is to cleanse the house, the land, the so-called church, that the true church might birth from within itself the man-child many member body of Christ, a people manifesting His nature.
In reading Jeremiah chapter six, from these scriptures, truth reveals the present-tense apostasy of the church and Gods feeling concerning that apostasy and rebellion. With Jerusalem, used in this scripture as a type of the church, understanding is given and the church needs to hear that which the trumpet of God is sounding throughout the land. For this reason, the people are in need to understand that destruction is among them with disastrous results in the forecast. When speaking of disaster appearing “out of the north” it points to the “carnal mind” as the enemy of God’s people bringing with it destruction. Also declared in verses two through seven, this enemy is seen attacking the daughter of Zion, which speaks of the offspring and the remaining inhabitants, the remnant which are a people standing-up for God’s glory. However, the leadership that responds and moves in the carnal religious systems of man has now come with an intended purpose in mind. Their purpose is to destroy and replace in God’s people an evil mind-set manifesting itself out from the north. This word “evil or disaster” as used in verse one is from a root word indicating its nature as one breaking up all that is good or desirable. In addition, notice that in verse seven her wickedness springs up in her midst as a fountain of water, as a people filled up with violence and plundering comes from among her and seen by God continually, thus the coming judgment.
These verses speak of the punishment for Jerusalem and her daughters because their rebellion causes this church to become one with the false antichrist church system. This religious system of carnality, which a large part of the church populace pursues, causes God to allow these carnal mind-sets to wage war against His true saints. In this, they set themselves against all that is good and right according to God’s word. These people are in a state of ever learning about a gospel but they never receive the knowledge of God’s truth. (Read 2 Tim. 3:1-6) with 2 Tim. 3:7 declaring, “Always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth”. God’s cry coming forth to today’s lukewarm church, those dwelling in its apostate condition, is that some might receive instruction lest they also become a desolate land not inhabited (Jeremiah chapter six verse eight). This speaks of a system that shall, along with all its promoters become as nothing in God’s sight.
As we observe the remainder of Jeremiah chapter six verses nine through thirty, the indictment from God is declared showing that every form of warning from God has been rejected, thus the consequences. The indictment is that the apostate church receives punishment because of their wickedness, their violence and their plundering. This results in God’s judgment that He uses as an antidote for cleansing. Verse 10 states this condition, “their ear is uncircumcised and they cannot give heed nor harken”. These established in their carnal religions have ceased to yield to the hearing of God’s voice and His ways. They become a people who no longer yield too nor understand God’s true covenant. The word of the Lord is a reproach to them. In this reproach, they have no delight in hearing truth as it comes only from God.
God’s hand now continues against the apostate church because as stated in verse thirteen, “everyone is given to covetousness, from the prophet even to the priest”. Herein a false sense of security exists because of continual falsehoods declared as the word of God coming from the so-called ministry. With the ministry of this apostate church continuing in the religion of their choice, they continue to build a house upon the sand. Building upon the sand speaks of a house that shall crumble as the flood from the adversary overcomes and destroys it. Grief and wounds, hurts and pain become the people’s lot in that the spoken of revivals come and go without true change. Where is the true ministry and those who have the true word of God? Have they not seemingly grown silent because of the uncircumcised ears that cannot hear the true words of God? Their failure to heed the warnings given from God exacts for them the inability to hear truth. They reject God’s true revelation while maintaining a system of death because God’s glory has departed. In this, we must consider this truth; God’s fury released brings destruction to these systems. (Read verses eleven through thirteen).
Meanwhile, many messages have come forth declaring this falsehood, the declaring of “peace, peace, peace” is among their idolatry when in this ungodly position there remains no true peace. True peace does not come to man when God is rejected and purposely denied His position before humanity. Isa. 26:3 does speak of true peace, but only in those who trust in God alone, “You [God] will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on you; because he trusts in you”. With trust in God exchanged for religious rituals and carnal doctrines, the fruit of the life-styles lived results in a hard-hearted condition. This condition prevails among those whose purpose in life is to live for self-alone. Herein some people appear to live righteous lives for the sake of their position and reputation by obeying the order of their religious group’s doctrines. This religious position leads us to verses fourteen and fifteen while we consider this people’s inability to be shameful during their committed abominations. They are without shame as they stand to fall with those who fall. These shall know the punishment of God in their being cast down.
In observing verses sixteen through twenty, further insight is given as to the true position and cause of such a condition that result in God’s indictment concerning this fallen church. The church of today, very much a church that fulfills the existing condition spoken of as works of the flesh, while they refuse to take the place of obedience and submission to Christ alone. They declare themselves as having no need for God, resulting in being spued out of God’s house. Rev. 3:16-17, “So then because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of my mouth. [Here we see the modern day church’s mind-set]. Because you say, I am rich, have need of nothing, and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind and naked”. As declared in verses sixteen through twenty of Jeremiah chapter 6, they have refused instructions while declaring, “We will not walk in it”. Their refusal reveals a like kind mind-set that uncovers them as being stubborn rebels which results in God not accepting their sacrifices or their prayers. Where is the God who has promised to answer the prayers of the church today? Note, with deep thought and consideration, Jeremiah 18:15-17, “Because my people have forgotten me, they have burned incense to worthless idols [works of the flesh, the carnal mind]. And they have caused themselves to stumble in their ways, from the ancient paths, to walk in pathways and not on a highway [to Mt. Zion], to make their land desolate and a perpetual hissing; everyone who passes by it will be astonished and shake his head. I will scatter them as with an east wind before the enemy; I will show them the back and not the face in the day of their calamity”.
Friends of God understanding given as the results of a blowing trumpet of revelation is sounding forth from God. This trumpet results in revealing corruption as it exists and is working among much of the visible church of today, and uncovered through true understanding of God’s word, the revealed scripture. This corruption is the results of spoilers sitting down among the people. According to verses twenty-seven through thirty, these spoilers have become the looked upon one’s, declared as the watchtower, the assayers, and the guardians of their religious systems. These also are the declared fortress among the people, a people tried and tested in the way and according to their hearts condition, not serving God but serving man’s ways. These spoilers are the stubborn rebels that walk as slanderers and corrupters. According to Jeremiah 6:29-30, these reject salvation (silver), these have rejected the divine nature of God and therefore in their reprobate condition God rejects them, “The bellows blow fiercely, the lead is consumed by the fire; the smelter refines in vain, for the wicked are not drawn off [church populace refuse to separate from carnal minded ministries and doctrines]. People will call them rejected silver, because the Lord has rejected them”. Apostasy, within a church promoted by a system of religions to deceive the world along with many of those called to be God’s people.
Does not the world look upon the visible church of today with this declaration, “they have nothing within them that I need”? Could it be because there is no life within the visible church that remains unchanged from man’s worldly life-styles? However, while the alarm is sounding concerning this enemy of carnal authority and rituals, the word of the Lord stands eternal in its declaration. Jeremiah 7:2-3, “Stand in the gate of the Lords house, and proclaim there this word, and say, hear the word of the Lord, all you of Judah [God’s tabernacle of praise and worship] who enter in at these gates to worship the Lord! Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel [Abraham’s true spiritual seed], amend your ways and your doings, and I will cause you to dwell in this place. [The Lords house is His many mansions, His dwellings places]”. These make up God’s true church, perfected to birth the fullness of God’s eternal purpose, a church without spot or wrinkle to manifest the glory, the nature of our eternal God throughout all of His creation.
