In this our day, God is imparting knowledge and wisdom unto His people. This imparted knowledge and wisdom is for those who would pursue after Him. In their pursuit, each one reveals a desire to obey God in all things, that He might be their all and all. In the pursuit of knowledge, we are speaking about much more than a knowing about Him or a passing acquaintance. God’s word speaks of knowledge in the light of precise or further knowledge. It speaks of a relationship, the results of becoming acquainted with Him in the light of a daily walk, gaining true knowledge. With knowledge, imparted in this manner, God’s power becomes a part of men’s life and glory. God’s power is more than just physical strength but it is an inherent power. God’s power, working within a people, is a power that has the ability to reproduce itself. Thus, not only imparting the God life within us, but also reproducing itself unto a full measure. This life is a life that includes both resurrection and eternal life. 2 Peter 1:1-4, “Simon Peter, a bondservant and apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who have obtained like precious faith with us by the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ: Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness. through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceeding great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust”.
Therefore, precious promises are given that we might be partakers of God’s divine nature, that we might be sharers of a deep spiritual union with Christ. This union speaks of the blessings and benefits of Christ, which includes His godliness, a result of sharing His fullness now as well as eternally. God’s divine nature enables us to escape the corruption of this world. That which we are or have been is not what we shall be. Though we have been born into the natural body, men of the dust, we shall also come forth with a spiritual body. 1 Cor. 15:49-50, “And as we have borne the image of the man of dust [natural], we shall also bear the image of the heavenly [spiritual] man. Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does corruption inherit incorruption”. Coming into the kingdom of God speaks of coming up out of the dust realm into the heavenlies, the spiritual realm of God. It speaks of the resurrected body that will not be subject to death. It not only will be beautiful and perfect, but will also have unlimited capabilities unknown to the dustman. This resurrected body will be adapted for life in the spiritual realm. A spiritual body does not speak of an immaterial body, but one adapted to the realities of the spiritual realm. This means our resurrected bodies will be like the resurrected Christ, as a life-giving spirit the resurrected Christ is the fountainhead of the new creation, a new creation that has received the inherent power of God, which reproduces itself. While the natural life is that which is but sensual, responding to the five senses as well as the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life. The spiritual life pertains to the things of the divine sphere, which includes all things in God.
It is for this cause that Christ gave gifts of ministry to the church, gifts from God to nurture and equip the church for the work of the ministry. They are not for hierarchical control or competition, but ministries given for the equipping of the saints. Equipping implies a recovered wholeness as when a broken limb is set and mends. Also a discovered function, as when a physical member is properly operating. The work of the ministry is the enterprise of each member of the body of Christ and not the exclusive charge of select leaders. Leaders are simply to cultivate the individual and corporate ministries of the body of Christ. This speaks of a progress in maturity, stability and integrity in each individual member’s experience, which result in the whole body’s growth and edifying. (Read Eph. 4:7-16). Note in verse 8 that He ascended on high. A word used in Eph. 3:18 that speaks of comprehending what are the width, length, depth and height, filled with all the fullness of God. Thus, height speaks of a higher dimension that Christ Jesus ascended into wherein the fullness of God dwells. It is in this place, this height that a people can come to know the fullness of God.
In verse 9 of this same chapter, it reveals that Christ first descended into the lower parts of the earth. A word the Greeks used for the unseen world, hell and the grave, speaking of a state of death, a separation from God. This state of death speaks of all those unbelievers who are separation from God and living in a death realm. These one’s Christ is willing to descend into, that in descending He also ascends from within that this people can come to know full salvation wherein God has purposed a state of perfection. This word “perfecting” of perfecting the saints is from a verb meaning to arrange or set in order. This is a perfected people who are no longer independent nor rebellious, but each person maturing unto their place of ministry, with “ministry” meaning service rendered by a servant. A service rendered because of the work of becoming one who has reached maturity as to age or qualification.
In this, we praise God for all the blessings He has bestowed on His people, blessings that are ours because of our relationship with Jesus Christ that is in our lives by the person of the Holy Spirit. Speaking of a people in whom the mysteries of God’s will becomes understanding, a mystery that was formerly a divine secret now becoming a fully disclosed truth of understanding and application. This understanding, set apart for the fullness of times, a dispensation that references the fact that God has a plan to gather the fragmented and alienated universe so that human history ultimately culminates in achieving His purpose. (Read Eph. 1:4-10). This is a plan that had its beginning in God before the foundation of the world. This word “before” denotes the position as being in sight, or before one, in place. The word “foundation” refers to the casting down, or overthrow, the disruption or ruin of the world. A reference to that which took place in Gen. 1:1-2 as God began bringing forth light out of the darkness, the illumination of His divine purposes, in the fullness of times to ultimately bring forth His day of perfection.
Our attention brought to the occasion when, during the time of Elijah and Ahab, a drought was in the land. This drought was the result of rebellion and mismanagement concerning the order and things of God. Is there not a like frame of mind operating among the church order of our day and time? According to the word of God to Amos the prophet, God has declared there would be a time of famine. Even as we have seen God’s promise among God’s people of today, we can behold the fulfillment of that promise. Amos 8:11, “Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord God, that I will send a famine on the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the Lord”. This prophecy, now fulfilled, is birthing a people, as they cry out to the Lord to restore the living word back to them. A time of restoration, that causes these hungry and thirsty people to hear the words of God and become complete in them. Thus, the Elijah prophets are now sounding out the trumpet to prepare the way for the appearing of this Christ as He comes forth in the perfected corporate body of Christ. Through this restored ministry, a true restoration is coming forth.
1 Kings 18:41-46 declares, “Then Elijah said to Ahab, Go up, eat and drink, for there is the sound of abundance of rain, So Ahab went up to eat and drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; then he bowed down on the ground, and put his face between his knees, and said to his servant, Go up now, look toward the sea. So he went up and looked, and said, there is nothing. And seven times, he said, go again. Then it came to pass the seventh time that he said, there is a cloud, as small, as a man’s hand, rising out of the sea! [The sea is carnal humanity] So he said, Go up, and say to Ahab, Prepare your chariot, and go down before the rain stops you. Now it happens in the meantime that the sky became black with clouds and wind, and there was a heavy rain. So Ahab rode away and went to Jezreel. Then the hand of the Lord came upon Elijah; and he girded up his loins and ran ahead of Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel”. In this setting, God shows the natural exercise in performing the supernatural being fulfilled in our day for the fulfilling of the spiritual. Even now, an anointed ministry is sounding out and releasing the fulfillment of this event. Going up to Mt. Carmel speaks to us of ascending into a garden, a meeting place wherein the supernatural lives in God. Thus, a modern day restored ministry, anointed with a God given authority, speaking to prepare a people for the appearing of the Christ.
In verse 43, we see a natural sea while in the spiritual we see a sea of carnal humanity. Going up seven times (God’s number for perfection) speaks to us of coming to the time and place of spiritual perfection. In verse 44, we see a natural cloud, while in the spiritual we observe a people coming up out of the sea of humanity, a people becoming the cloud of witnesses in which the Christ manifests Himself. When speaking of a man’s hand, the word “man” speaks of a great man in contrast with ordinary men. It speaks of a spiritual man versus the natural man. The “hand” spoken of here is a type of the five ministries spoken of in Eph. chapter 4. With the wind of verse 45 speaking of the spirit, an invisible force except by its manifestations. This spirit is the invisible origin of life that comes from God and returns back to Him. Note that Elijah and Ahab both go forth into Jezreel, with the prophet supernaturally partaking of Jezreel first, which means, “God sows”. Thus, that which took place in the natural during Elijah’s day is in God’s fullness of times completed in a people of the spirit. The fullness of times, a time for restoration of those things the carnal church system still deems as being unnecessary. This divine system of God no longer abides in the theory of a ministry of perfection only, but a ministry that is coming forth in the measure of the full stature of Christ, that place of perfection.
Because we are now entering into the time of the seventh day, the Sabbath day, we are going to find a carnal church, which is not willing to except those who move outside their religious carnal laws. However, to those who obey God they know a time of restoring, a refreshing of the five ministries that God set within the church as they move into the anointing of equipping the saints, for the work of the ministry. This is a body coming forth as a perfect man in the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ. (Read Mark 3:1-6) With the anointing of the body of Christ being now present among the people, they shall behold the anointing of Christ body as it makes its appearance. The work of the body of Christ shall captivate the attention of the crippled church so the healing that is much needed, might take place. (Read Mark 2:1-12). “We never saw it on this fashion”. The carnal church and the people of a worldly nature shall know the judgments of God. Unto those who receive and obey, they shall know the peace of God, but unto those who rebel against the truth, they shall experience the hand of God’s wrath. (Read Eph. 4:17-24). Those who follow Christ shall experience renewal in the spirit of their mind. Thus, they put on the new man as the old man passes away. The old life-style, dominated by the spirit of disobedience is now becoming a life-style of obedience by the empowerment of the Holy Spirit. Thus, our seventh day of perfection is upon us. Therefore, let us rejoice and be glad. Fellowship with God in the spirit of our day and we shall know life.
