II Thess. 2:9-12 declares, “The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of the adversary, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, and with all unrighteous deception among those who parish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this reason God will send them strong delusion that they should believe the lie that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness”. In these scriptures there are important words written which speak loudly to us concerning conditions which are the results of the adversary which opposes God dwelling in us. The word “working” speaks of “action and operative power”. While usually used to describe the workings of God, here it is used to draw attention to the adversary’s empowerment to what is described as the lawless one. “Wonders”, another word used to draw attention to the area used to touch or captivate man’s soul which is, the mind, the will, the emotions and the desire of the man. “Wonders” denote “extraordinary occurrences, supernatural prodigies, omens, portents, unusual manifestation that cause the observer to marvel or be in awe”. In these two words we can understand the activities which are presently taking place to capture mankind’s soul, thus the whole man.
Therefore, the need to observe another word used that we might consider, the word “delusion” with emphases being placed upon the word “strong” as used in II Thess 2:11. This word “delusion” is also interpreted as “error” and is a word denoting “going astray, an error”. Thus, there are a people who are going astray in respect to their morals and their doctrines. In this, the method the enemy of God uses to captivate God’s creation is to deceive the vessel within the soul. The adversary, that which desires to sit down as a God within man’s make-up of the mind, the will, the emotions and desires. As the enemy of God deceives man that he might occupy, God, by the Word and Spirit is exposing unto all willing vessels this deception which desire to captivate and possess and make man prisoners.
God’s purpose for creation is and has always been increase. This truth is a lesson yet to be learned by most of the Christian community in that God desires so much more for them than they have been willing to see and accept. One of Satan’s deceptive methods is to keep God’s family from seeing God’s true purpose as they become willing to accept a minimal life-style that rejects most of God’s purpose for them. Herein a great truth can be known when we consider Job, even as God and Satan considered him. Note God’s statement in that Job was considered blameless and an upright man. Job 1:8, “Then the Lord said to Satan, have you considered (set your heart on) my servant (not yet a son) Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, one who fears God and shuns (turns away from) evil”. As Job was to soon learn, God’s purpose for His people is that while being blameless and upright as servants, God desire is for His friends to become a family of sons. This truth, through the increase of God and His maturing process, is a truth which Job and all God’s faithful followers shall learn. Read Gal. 4:1-7 while noting verse five which declares, “To redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons”. Did not Christ Jesus express this as His utmost desire in John 15:14-15, “You are my friends if you do whatever I command you? No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you”. (Also read I John 3:1-2 especially noting the word “revealed” from New King James version).
As we have read, God declaring that Job in his present state of life was considered perfect. But God, desiring for Job and the rest of the Christian community much more than our present state of life as servants, He begins to advance Job through what seems to be and was a dying to the old mans authority, his nature. In this process of dying, God reveals and allows, first of all the devices needed and used to remove from Job his self-righteousness. While perfect in Job’s former standings as a servant, a removing must be experienced to gain God’s higher purpose. Job 32:1, “So these three men ceased answering Job because he was righteous in his own eyes”. This same fault is very much alive among the Christian community of today, which is, justifying self rather than allowing Christ to justify. A lesson that can be learned, through testing and the revealing of the old nature, God now is enabled to bring true justification to Job. In this, Job responds in humility as he compares his former knowledge of God with his present given knowledge, which is superior because it has come directly to Job from God. Job 42:5-6, “I have heard of you by the hearing of the ear (coming from other sources), but now my eye sees you (he sees God differently because of personal revelation and experience). Therefore I abhor (despises the old nature) myself, and repent in dust and ashes”.
A question many consider, was God’s evaluation of Job wrong? A loud sounding NO. Job was perfect in the sense of imputed righteousness, which in Job’s case was a looking forward to Christ righteousness as it would finally be made available to receiving mankind. This righteousness was to be received through the results and acceptance of Jesus’ future work on the cross. But now through a revealing and exposure, the Holy Spirit through testing and trials, means that Job and all Christians can now gain the experience of perfect manifested righteousness. This means much more than having just a revelation concerning God and His ways alone, but a need to gain the life of the revelation. This process, which God established from Himself, was designed and is administrated by forces which are completely under God’s control. II Thess. 2:7, “For the mystery (secret – hidden until exposed or revealed by the Holy Spirit) of lawlessness is already at work (the active operation of power and its effectual results); Only He (God’s Spirit limiting the lawless ones power) who now restrains will do so until He (the Holy Spirit which limits him) is taken out of the way”.
Many among the Christian community are being deceived by this adversaries lie because they do not want to believe the truth. Truth is not easily accepted because of carnal doctrines which deceive and makes prisoners of the many, while truth when received, brings forth a manifestation of freedom. Proverbs 10:30 states the truth of the order which is being taken out or removed. “The righteous will never be removed, but the wicked will not inhabit the earth”. Then in John 17:15 Jesus prays, “I do not pray that you should take them out of the world, but that you should keep them from the evil one”.
There are a people, receiving God’s truth that shall be and are being protected by God, even during this time of great deception and tribulation. This people are becoming God’s dwelling place because they have been willing and found complete and righteous in Christ, a people without spot or wrinkle. The carnal mind has lost its hold upon them as they respond to the mind of Christ alone. Eph. 5:27, “That He (Christ) might present her (pure church) to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish”.
Understand that God’s people shall not enter into the fullness of His presence as Kings and Priests prior to being made a people of perfection. Why, because without perfection the son of perdition would also be ushered in within those of imperfection, the church with her spots and wrinkles. Therefore the son of perdition, in being revealed and exposed within the people must of necessity be cast aside from the soul of the man. Remember, just as with Job, the church, individually and collectively, will know the appointed time when God will take Himself out of the way for a short season. In maturing and perfecting the saints, the son of perdition and all its activities and characteristics will be exposed. That is, God allows the influence of the son of perdition to be exposed, yes all that is unlike God which works within us is to be revealed, that which is the fruit of the carnal mind. Job 16:12, “I was at ease, but He has shattered me; He also has taken me by my neck, and shaken me to pieces; He as set me up for His target”. This truth of exposure, not understood by the many, but experienced by Job, the Apostle Paul, and it will also be experienced by those who overcomer. Phil. 3:14-15, “I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Therefore let us, as many as are mature have this mind; and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal even this to you”. The word “mature” speaks loudly as to its meaning. The Greek word “TELEIAS” which refers to “that which has reached an end, finished, complete, perfect;” and when applied to believers it denotes maturity.
What then is God speaking to His people, what is God accomplishing but that the overcomers shall be shaken until all that is unlike God is shaken and cast off. God’s present day desire is for the soul of man to be resurrected into a “living soul”, even as the first Adam before the fall. God’s continual purpose is for a people to be birthed into God’s throne-room Holy of Holies. This is the place wherein the throne-room authority, through God’s first-fruits, will establish God’s kingdom on the earth. This throne-room authority is the result of a mature people who are maturing into completeness and righteousness as they are becoming God’s dwelling place, His temple established on the earth to manifest His glory. Just as with Job the receiving ones, those experiencing the testing of their faith, shall know that the latter-end of God’s created man becomes greater for them than their beginnings. Job 42:10-12a, “And the Lord restored Job’s losses when he prayed for his friends. Indeed the Lord gave Job twice (double portion) as much as he had before. Then all his brothers, all his sisters, and all those who had been his acquaintances before, came to him and ate food with him in his house (supplied spiritual sustenance); and they consoled him and comforted him for all the adversity that the Lord had brought upon him, (he endured to finally see Him who is invisible, remember Job 42:5-6). Each one gave him a piece of silver and each a ring of gold. Now the Lord blessed the latter days of Job more than his beginning; …” Job’s increase, the promise given to all those who overcome, to sit with Christ on His throne even as He sat down with the Father on His throne. Rev. 3:21, “To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with me on my throne, as I also overcame and sat down with my Father on His throne”. A time for increase.
